Terry Hi, my name is Terry Whitford and I play lead guitar and sing back up vocals for Rewind. Inspired by the great Ventures, I started playing guitar at an early age and joined my first rock ‘n roll band, The Echo’s, when I was 14years old. Later we became The Echotones and appeared regularly on CHCT-TV’s weekly rock ‘n roll program “Guys and Dolls” hosted by Don Wood. My bandmate, Ronnie King would later go on to play bass with The Stampeders, Calgary’s biggest musical export.

Through the years, I have played with a lengthy list of bands including The Rayelles, Keith and the Variations(Keith Hampshire), Southern State, the CKXL Orange, Black and White Affair and Rhythm Earls. I returned to Calgary after 14 years of touring in 1976 and joined the Chandells. I have lots of great memories of playing across western Canada and the USA and made many friends in the music business that I am still in contact with. Playing with Rewind has afforded me the opportunity to play tunes I haven’t played in 40+ years and often seeing the same faces, perhaps a bit older now, enjoying our tunes.  After all this time, performing rock ‘n roll remains my greatest passion.

(Footnote by Lloyd Derry): If anyone ever writes Alberta’s Rock ‘n Roll history, Terry Whitford would be front and center.  Terry is one of Alberta’s rock guitar greats and has shared stage billing with such famous rock bands as Shades of Blonde, 49th Parallel, Willy and the Walkers, Southbound Freeway, the Lords, Dew Line, Happy Feeling, etc. and has regularly backed up stars like Bobby Curtola. I have yet to find a rock ‘n roll song that Terry doesn’t know how to play and performing with him is an absolute joy. Rewind is indeed fortunate to have Terry in our band!
