| Hi, my name is Merlyn Clarkson and I play bass guitar and sing backup for the Calgary based band “Rewind”. I first started playing in the mid 60’s with a group out of Hanna, AB called Nite Crowd. In the early years I didn’t have a car and had to hitch hike from the small town I lived in (50 miles away) to Hanna just for rehearsal. We played extensively throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan all through High School. After a stint in the navy I ended up moving to Calgary and settling down. For the next number of years I put my music on hold. In the late 90’s I joined a Country Rock group “Renegade” and played with them until 2007. Two friends from the original 60’s band, Lloyd Derry and Roy Johnston contacted me to see if I still enjoyed the old Rock & Roll music and discussed the possibility of a reunion. The opportunity to continuously play what we grew up listening to made my decision was an easy one. Rounding out the group is Lloyd’s wife Velma (backup vocals), my friend and drummer Pete Potter from former band (Renegade), and lead guitarist Terry Whitford. I don’t really know how Terry found his way to us but what a gift he’s been. It’s a pleasure to be playing original R&R music and watching everyone still having as much fun as ever dancing and singing along. Hope to see you at our next gig. ( email
